Christmas Boxes

Thank you to all who helped with this year’s Christmas Box giving. We proved once again that snow and ice can’t stop us! With your generous donations, time and energy we were able to provide boxes for 90 families. 50 families received a full Adopt A Family box with Christmas dinner, additional food, paper products and gifts for the family. Another 40 families received Christmas dinner and gifts from Clackamas Toy and Joy.

Christmas Boxes is one of the busiest and most exciting times at Milwaukie Presbyterian Church. During the weekend before Christmas our community gathers to assemble boxes for local families - including food staples, a Christmas dinner, Christmas gifts for the family, toiletries, supplies and other items. Stay tuned for details on our annual work party if you want to see and be part of the Christmas Boxes action. Donations of food, gifts and supplies are appreciated.

Compassion in Action, a local non-profit, provides MPC with the list of families we serve. If you or someone you know needs some help with Christmas joy this year, contact Compassion in Action (ciacc@comcast.net or 503.632.0562). Applications are available at social services offices, fire departments and senior centers and need to be received in early December.

SON Ministry - Sheltering Our Neighbors

S.O.N. network utilizes churches to temporarily house people when shelters are full. MPC participates during the winter months, hosting families for up to two weeks at a time.

We will need volunteers ready to provide meals, hosting in the evening, overnight stays, laundry, potentially transportation and help setting up for the family. Stay tuned to newsletters and announcements for volunteer calls.
